Altenar expands in Europe after securing license in Greece
The sportsbook and iGaming operator, recognized across the globe, Altenar, confirmed it continues its European-facing expansion. The company has announced it secured a license from the gambling regulator in Greece. The green light came from the country’s gambling watchdog, the Hellenic Gaming Commission, which granted Altenar a business-to-business (B2B) license in the country. Securing the important license marks a milestone moment for Altenar’s expansion on the Old Continent. It complements the company’s growth and enables its content and services to reach new players. The license will be available for seven years, enabling the company to significantly grow its footprint in this new jurisdiction that represents an important market in Europe. Marina Zacharopoulou, Altenar’s Compliance Manager, shared her excitement about the latest announcement in a statement. She revealed that although the process for securing a license in Greece was “rigorous,” it followed similar procedures the company has already experienced in different jurisdictions across the globe. Zacharopoulou said that the process wasn’t without challenges, but Altenar was able to resolve them quickly and without any hassles. The company’s Compliance Manager added: “Achieving a Greek license holds special significance for Altenar, as a considerable portion of our team is Greek, making it feel like a homecoming.” Additionally, Zacharopoulou said: “Personally I believe that Greece’s historical connection to games of chance, evident in the popularity of gambling in ancient times and the presence of deities like Tyche, adds cultural resonance to our licensure.” She spoke about the importance of the market in Greece for the company, saying that it is exciting to participate in the growth of the iGaming sector. “Since the introduction of the new regulatory framework, online betting in Greece has emerged as a success story, and we are eager to contribute to its ongoing narrative,” outlined Zacharopoulou. The recently secured license in Greece comes after Altenar opened an office in Athens, the country’s capital, largest city and one of the world’s oldest cities. According to the company, the license marked the “next logical step” in its expansion in the European country. Recently, Altenar grew its Eastern European footprint by teaming up with Magic Bet in Bulgaria. The strategic activation saw the company deliver its interactive bonus offerings and Virtual Sports products for Magic Bet, bolstering its offering. Image credit:
