Scorebet review: a Cypriot bookmaker without a UK licence

Scorebet is a Cypriot sportsbook with a Cyprus licence. It has no Gambling Commission licence and is not aimed at Great Britain.

Our verdict

No GB licence

Scorebet is licensed in Cyprus (licence A014, Cleverpath Holdings Ltd) and has no Gambling Commission licence; it is aimed at Cyprus, not Great Britain.

Worth knowing

  • No Gambling Commission licence
  • Not part of GAMSTOP
  • Disputes fall outside UK ADR
  • Easily confused with the separate LiveScore Bet

Scorebet is a sportsbook from Cyprus, run by Cleverpath Holdings Ltd under licence A014 from the National Betting Authority of Cyprus. It holds no Gambling Commission licence, and its site is aimed at Cyprus rather than Great Britain. This Scorebet review sets out the licence position and clears up a common mix-up with a similarly named British brand.

Licensed in Cyprus, not in Great Britain

Scorebet has betting shops in Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and Famagusta as well as its website. Its footer states that it is operated by Cleverpath Holdings Ltd and regulated by the Cypriot authority. That is a real licence, but it is a Cypriot one. It does not authorise the brand to take bets or casino play from people in Great Britain, and there is no Scorebet entry on the Commission's register.

Scorebet or LiveScore Bet?

Many UK searches for "scorebet" may be meant for LiveScore Bet, which is a different business. LiveScore Bet appears on the register under account 56859, held by LiveScore Betting and Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited. The two share part of a name and nothing else on record: different companies, different regulators and different markets. If you meant LiveScore Bet, look up account 56859 on the register to see its current status and activities.

Why a Cypriot licence does not cover a British player

The Gambling Act 2005 requires a Commission licence for remote gambling used in Great Britain, wherever the operator is based. Licences from other countries do not count. Without one, none of the British rules apply to the account:

  • no GAMSTOP participation, which every GB-licensed online operator must have;
  • no Commission rules on bonus terms, including the 10x wagering cap in force from 19 January 2026;
  • no £5 limit per online slot spin, or £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds;
  • no approved UK ADR provider if a dispute arises.

Before you open any betting account

Check the footer for a Gambling Commission account number and confirm it on the register: status Active, the right activity listed (General Betting for a sportsbook, Casino for casino games) and the domain on the entry. Our licence check guide explains each step, and the reviews A-Z shows the register result for every brand we cover.

Betting is for adults aged 18 and over. Licensed sites must verify your age and identity before you deposit. If you are worried about your gambling, the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free, and our responsible gambling page lists further support.
