Casino bonuses UK 2026: deposit bonuses, spins and their terms

How casino bonuses work under the 2026 GB rules, the types on offer, and the significant terms that decide what an offer is worth.

A casino bonus in Great Britain is now a much simpler thing than it was: since 19 January 2026 Gambling Commission rules cap wagering on bonus funds at 10x, and a single offer can no longer mix casino with betting or bingo. What still varies is everything around the headline - the minimum deposit, what the wagering applies to, which games count, how long you have and how much bonus winnings can become. This hub explains each type of online casino bonus and the terms to read before you accept one.

18+ only. A bonus is still gambling with your own money at the start - play responsibly, and see our responsible gambling page for limits and support.

The 2026 bonus rules in plain English

The Gambling Commission's rules on rewards and bonuses (LCCP social responsibility code 5.1.1) say, in summary:

  • A casino must not require you to play through bonus funds more than 10 times before they become withdrawable.
  • One incentive must not cover more than one product type - betting, casino, bingo or lottery. A sign-up deal with free bets and casino spins together is no longer allowed.
  • Terms must be clear, fair, easy to find and easy to read.
  • An offer must not grow in value because you reach the qualifying spend faster.

The rules do not settle every detail. Whether the 10x is counted on the bonus alone or on deposit plus bonus, and how winnings from spins are treated, depend on each operator's own terms. That is why every offer on this site is printed with the operator's terms rather than a summary of the law. Our guide to wagering requirements works through the arithmetic with examples.

Types of casino bonus and what to check

Bonus typeHow it worksTerms to read first
Welcome bonusDeposit match or bonus spins on your first depositMinimum deposit, wagering and on what, expiry, maximum win
Bonus spinsA set number of spins on named slots, often after a deposit and stakeSpin value, eligible game, wagering on winnings, cap
No deposit bonusSmall spins or credit for registering, no deposit neededWinnings cap, wagering, verification before withdrawal
CashbackA share of net losses returned, sometimes as cashPeriod covered, percentage, whether it is cash or bonus funds
Promo codesA code entered at deposit or registration to unlock an offerWhere the code goes, and whether the offer works without it

Deposit bonus casino offers

A deposit match adds bonus funds as a percentage of what you pay in, up to a cap. Under the 10x rule the wagering is lower than it used to be, but caps and expiry matter more than ever. For example, Wink Slots lists 50% games bonus up to £100 on a £10 first deposit

Significant terms

Min deposit £10; 50% bonus up to £100; 10x bonus wagering; 5-day expiry

A short expiry like this can matter more than the wagering multiple if you play little and often.

Spins paid as cash

Some offers pay winnings from spins straight into your cash balance. Pub Casino's terms sheet shows one such offer: 50 cash spins on Octobeer Fortunes after depositing and wagering £10

Significant terms

Deposit and wager £10; activate before depositing; spins £0.20 each, winnings paid as cash, no max cash out; Skrill deposits excluded; spins expire in 48 hours

Even without wagering, check the spin value, the named game and when the spins must be used. Several higher-scoring brands now pay spin winnings without wagering too, among them MrQ and Virgin Games: 100 bonus spins on Game of Thrones after a £10 slots wager.

Significant terms

Opt in; deposit and wager £10 on slots; 30-day expiry; 10p spins on Game of Thrones; no wagering on free-spin winnings; live casino wagering does not count

When is a bonus really "free"?

Advertising rules allow the word "free" only when you do not have to risk your own money to get the offer. Spins that need a deposit, a stake or both are bonus spins, whatever an operator's banner calls them. Genuine no deposit bonus offers in the UK do exist, but they are rare, small and come with checks before you can withdraw. Sky Vegas is one current example, crediting spins on registration before a further deposit offer: 50 bonus spins on registration, no deposit, then 200 bonus spins after depositing and staking £10.

Significant terms

No wagering on free-spin winnings; 7-day spin expiry; £10 deposit and stake within 30 days of registration; spins loaded on the first eligible game chosen; existing Sky Betting & Gaming customers excluded

The same logic rules out "free bet casino" deals: free bets belong to sports betting, and since January 2026 they cannot be bundled with casino spins in one offer.

Bingo bonuses follow the same rules as casino ones, with one extra point: because bingo and casino are separate product types, a single bingo offer cannot include casino play. A "games bonus" at a bingo site applies to its instant games and is a separate incentive.

Six significant terms that decide a bonus's value

  1. Minimum deposit - and whether certain methods, often e-wallets or Paysafecard, do not qualify.
  2. Wagering - the multiple, what it applies to, and how much each game contributes.
  3. Maximum bet while wagering - breaking it can void the bonus. Online slots are also limited to £5 a spin, or £2 if you are 18-24.
  4. Expiry - for the bonus itself and for any spins.
  5. Maximum win or conversion - the most bonus winnings can turn into cash.
  6. Eligible games - many offers apply to one named slot only.

All six should appear beside the offer, not only in the full terms. If one is missing, treat the offer with caution. Our casino reviews record each of them for every operator.

Using a bonus sensibly

Decide your budget before you look at offers, not after. A bonus that pushes you to deposit more than you planned is not good value at any wagering level. You can also decline a bonus altogether at most casinos, which leaves your deposit free of play-through conditions. If you find yourself chasing a bonus or depositing again to meet a target, a deposit limit or a time-out is the better next step, and the National Gambling Helpline is open around the clock on 0808 8020 133.

  • Free spins

Most casino free spins in Great Britain need a £10 deposit and stake. How spin value, win caps and the 10x wagering cap decide what an offer is worth.

A no deposit casino bonus needs no payment to claim, but it is usually small and capped. How the offers work in Great Britain and what to check.

Questions readers ask

What is the maximum wagering on a casino bonus in Great Britain?

Since 19 January 2026 a licensed casino may not require you to play through bonus funds more than 10 times. Each operator's terms say whether the multiple applies to the bonus only and how games contribute.

Can a sign-up offer include both free bets and casino spins?

No. Since 19 January 2026 one incentive may cover only one product type - betting, casino, bingo or lottery - so combined sports and casino sign-up offers are no longer allowed.

Are no deposit bonuses still available in the UK?

Some licensed casinos offer small no deposit spins or credit. They usually cap what you can win and require identity checks before a withdrawal, so read the terms before you register.

Do I have to accept a casino bonus?

No. Most casinos let you decline the welcome offer, and some ask you to opt in. Playing without a bonus means your deposit carries no wagering conditions.

Why does the minimum deposit sometimes exclude Paysafecard or e-wallets?

Many operators exclude certain payment methods from their offers. It is a significant term, so it should be stated next to the offer rather than buried in the full terms.
