Best online casinos UK 2026: licensed sites and their terms
UKGC-licensed online casinos ranked by what their terms actually say, with the GB rules on wagering, stakes and deposit limits that apply in 2026.
- 1Licensed only. Every operator we rank holds an active Gambling Commission licence, with its account number on show.
- 2Terms beside offers. Each welcome offer carries its significant terms right underneath, in plain type.
- 3Scores out of 10. Six weighted criteria, built from published documents - see the method.

The best online casino in the UK is one that holds a remote licence from the Gambling Commission (UKGC) and whose terms you can live with: a clear welcome offer, wagering of 10x or less, fair withdrawal rules and working safer-gambling tools. Every casino on this page is licensed for Great Britain, and each one is ranked by what its own documents say rather than by how loud its advertising is. All British Casinos reads the terms, the bonus rules and the Gambling Commission register so you can compare casino sites in the UK on facts.
18+ only. Gambling can be addictive - play responsibly, and see our responsible gambling guide for limits, time-outs and free support.

Best online casino UK sites, ranked by their terms
The table below lists the top online casinos in the UK by score out of 10. Each score is a weighted mean of six sub-scores, and the welcome offer in every row is shown with its significant terms, because an offer without its minimum deposit, wagering and caps tells you very little. Operators whose terms sheet so far holds only their register entry sit lower down: their current offers, payments and app details are set out in their own terms and change often.

A higher place means the documents are clearer and the terms are kinder to the player. It does not mean you are more likely to win: every licensed casino has a house edge, and no ranking changes that.
The top of the table is now led by brands with plain, low-wagering offers. MrQ pays its welcome spins with no wagering: 100 bonus spins on Big Bass Splash with the first £10 deposit, no wagering.
First deposit £10; spins on Big Bass Splash at 10p; use within 48 hours; winnings uncapped and paid as cash (no wagering)
No wagering on free-spin winnings; 7-day spin expiry; £10 deposit and stake within 30 days of registration; spins loaded on the first eligible game chosen; existing Sky Betting & Gaming customers excluded
What this guide does and does not do
Casino comparison sites often describe the look of a lobby or the speed of an app. This one works from paperwork. For every operator there is a terms sheet built from public documents only:
- The Gambling Commission register - licence holder, account number, licensed activities and the domains notified to the regulator.
- Terms and conditions and bonus rules - wagering, expiry, maximum win, excluded payment methods, eligible games.
- Help-centre and payment pages - deposit methods, minimum deposits, pending periods and withdrawal times.
- Safer-gambling pages - deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs, self-exclusion and GAMSTOP.
No accounts are opened, no money is deposited and no games are played for these pages. When a document does not state something, the terms sheet says so rather than guessing. The scoring method, with its six criteria and weights, is set out in full on how we rate online casinos: licence 20%, terms 25%, payments 15%, safer gambling 15%, games 15% and transparency 10%.
GB gambling rules every player should know in 2026
Online gambling in Great Britain has changed a great deal since 2019. The rules below apply to every casino on this site because they are conditions of a Gambling Commission licence. Northern Ireland sits outside this regime, so these are Great Britain rules rather than UK-wide ones.
| Rule | In force | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Age and identity checks first | 7 May 2019 | Your age and identity are verified before you can deposit, gamble or play demo versions of games. |
| GAMSTOP for all online operators | 31 March 2020 | One free self-exclusion covers every GB-licensed gambling website and app. |
| No credit cards | 14 April 2020 | Credit cards cannot be used for gambling in Great Britain, including through e-wallets funded by a credit card. |
| Slot design rules | 31 October 2021 | At least 2.5 seconds per spin, no autoplay or turbo, no celebrating a "win" that is less than your stake; reverse withdrawals banned. |
| Slot stake limits | 9 April and 21 May 2025 | Online slots have a maximum stake of £5 per spin, or £2 if you are 18-24. Table games are not covered. |
| Financial limit prompt | 31 October 2025 | You are asked to set a financial limit before your first deposit, and setting one is the default. |
| Bonus wagering cap | 19 January 2026 | Wagering on bonus funds is capped at 10x, and one offer cannot mix products such as betting and casino. |
| Gross deposit limits | 30 September 2026 | Sites must offer gross deposit limits, and only those may be called "deposit limits". |
Two further points are worth knowing. Gambling winnings are not taxed in the UK. And licensed operators may carry out checks on high spenders, which can mean a request for documents; that is part of holding a licence, not a sign that something is wrong with your account.
How to judge gambling sites in the UK yourself
A ranking is a starting point. Before you deposit anywhere, five checks take a few minutes and cover most of what goes wrong:
- Find the licence. The footer should name the licence holder and its Gambling Commission account number. Search that number on the public register and check the site's domain is listed.
- Read the significant terms of the offer. Minimum deposit, wagering and on what, expiry, eligible games, maximum win and excluded payment methods should sit right next to the offer.
- Check how withdrawals work. Look for a pending period, the methods that can receive withdrawals and any verification needed before the first payout.
- Look at the payment list. Some methods are deposit-only, and some are excluded from the welcome offer.
- Set your limits first. A deposit limit set before your first deposit is the simplest protection there is.
Where to find casino sites by topic
The guide is split into sections so you can go straight to the question you have:
- UK casino sites - every type of licensed online casino, from fast withdrawals to low deposits.
- New casino sites - recently launched brands and what their licences show.
- Casino bonuses - welcome offers, bonus spins and cashback under the 10x cap.
- Casino reviews - a full terms sheet and score for each operator.
- Sister sites - brands that share a licence holder, and what that means for you.
- Payment methods - debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Pay by Bank and pay by phone.
- Online slots, roulette and scratch cards - how the games work and the rules that apply to them.
- Casino guides - plain explanations of RTP, volatility, wagering requirements and how casino games pay out.
Keeping gambling in proportion
Gambling should be paid for out of money you can afford to lose, never as a way to make money. GB-licensed sites ask you to set a deposit limit when you sign up, and they offer reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion. If you want a break from every licensed site at once, GAMSTOP at gamstop.co.uk lets you exclude for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years, and the exclusion cannot be cancelled early. The National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, is free and open 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133.
Questions readers ask
Which online casinos in the UK are legal to use?
Only operators holding an active remote licence from the Gambling Commission may offer casino games to players in Great Britain. The licence holder and account number should be in the site's footer, and you can check both on the Commission's public register.
How are the casinos on this page ranked?
Each operator gets six sub-scores - licence, terms, payments, safer gambling, games and transparency - built only from public documents such as the register and the operator's terms. The overall score out of 10 is their weighted mean.
What is the wagering limit on UK casino bonuses?
Since 19 January 2026 Gambling Commission rules cap wagering on bonus funds at 10x. An offer also cannot combine different products, such as free bets and casino spins, in one promotion.
Do I pay tax on casino winnings in the UK?
No. Gambling winnings are not taxed in the UK. Interest you later earn on that money is treated like any other savings income.
Can I play casino games without verifying my age?
No. GB-licensed sites verify your age and identity before you can deposit, gamble or play demo versions of games. This has applied since 7 May 2019.
