Slingo: how slots and bingo combine, and where to play

How Slingo works, from the grid and reel to Jokers and the prize ladder, why extra spins are the key cost, and which UK-licensed casinos list Slingo games.

Slingo is a cross between slots and bingo. You play a 5x5 grid of numbers with a single reel of five symbols underneath; each spin reveals one number per column, matching numbers are marked off, and completing lines - called "Slingos" - moves you up a prize ladder. At GB casinos Slingo sits in the slots or games lobby rather than the bingo rooms, and Magical Vegas, Mecca Games, Bella Casino, Pub Casino, Lottomart and Amazon Slots all list a Slingo section.

Amazon Slots puts it in one line: "Slingo combines slots and bingo." This page explains how a game plays, where the real cost lies, and what bonus terms usually say about Slingo games.

On this page
  1. How a Slingo game plays
  2. Extra spins: where the cost is
  3. Slingo titles and themes
  4. Slingo bonuses, spins and wagering
  5. Slingo sites, sister sites and mobile play
  6. Slingo and GB player protection

How a Slingo game plays

  1. Stake. Your stake buys a set number of standard spins, often ten.
  2. Spin. The reel shows five symbols, one under each column of the grid. A number that appears in its column is marked automatically.
  3. Special symbols. Some spins land symbols instead of numbers (see below).
  4. Slingos. Each completed row, column or diagonal counts as one Slingo. The more Slingos, the higher you climb on the prize ladder at the side of the grid. A full grid usually pays the top prize.
  5. Extra spins. When the standard spins run out, you are offered extra spins one at a time, at a price shown on screen.
SymbolWhat it usually does
JokerLets you mark any number in that column
Super JokerLets you mark any number anywhere on the grid
Free spinAdds an extra standard spin at no cost
DevilBlocks a number or takes away part of your progress, depending on the game
CherubCancels a Devil

Symbols and their effects vary between titles, so read the game's help screen. Some Slingo games also add a bonus feature from the slot theme they are based on.

Extra spins: where the cost is

The extra-spin offer is the one real decision in Slingo, and the one that costs most. The price of each extra spin is calculated from your position on the grid: when you are one number away from a big step on the ladder, the next spin can cost several times your original stake. The price reflects the value of the spin, so buying is not a trick, but it is easy to spend far more on extras than on the game itself.

Two habits help. Decide before you start how many extra spins you will buy, or set a price above which you stop. And compare the price on screen with your original stake each time, rather than thinking about the prize you might reach. The game's help screen states its theoretical return; check whether it says anything about extra spins.

Slingo titles and themes

The Slingo name and the "Slingo Originals" range belong to Gaming Realms, and many titles are themed versions of well-known slots, for example Slingo Rainbow Riches, based on the slot covered on our Rainbow Riches page. Slingo Classic keeps the plain grid-and-reel format. Lobbies also carry Slingo-style games from other studios. Mecca Games promises "a whole host of Slingo games", and Bella Casino and Pub Casino list Slingo as a separate category, so the selection is easy to browse.

Slingo bonuses, spins and wagering

Whether a bonus can be used on Slingo depends entirely on the offer's terms. The documents show both approaches:

  • Pub Casino's bonus rules say Slingo games count 100% towards wagering requirements.
  • tombola Arcade's terms say bonus funds cannot be used on Slingo.

Since 19 January 2026 GB rules cap wagering on bonus funds at 10x and ban single offers that cover more than one product type. How each operator classifies Slingo for that rule is set out in its own terms, so check that an offer names Slingo games before you rely on it. Searches for "Slingo free spins" usually lead to bonus spins for slots, not Slingo, and spins that need a deposit should not be called free. Genuine no-deposit offers at GB sites are small and capped; none of the operators listed here shows a no-deposit Slingo offer in its current terms. The free spins guide explains how spins offers work.

Slingo sites, sister sites and mobile play

Magical Vegas, Bella Casino and Mecca Games are run by the same licence holder, Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited (Gambling Commission account 57924), and each lists Slingo, so the games overlap between them. Our casino sister sites page explains what shared ownership means for terms and self-exclusion. Slingo games run in the mobile browser like any other casino game; Lottomart, which also has a Slingo category, offers apps on the App Store and Google Play.

Slingo and GB player protection

  • Free Slingo demos at a GB-licensed casino are available only after age verification.
  • Autoplay and turbo features are banned across online casino products, so every spin is started by you.
  • Games show your net position and time played.
  • Gambling winnings are not taxed in the UK.

18+ only. The extra-spin offer is designed to feel close to a win; set a firm limit before the first spin. Our responsible gambling page explains deposit limits, time-outs and free support.

Questions readers ask

Is Slingo a slot or bingo?

A mix of both: a slot-style reel picks numbers that you mark on a bingo-style grid. GB casinos usually list Slingo in their slots or games lobby.

What is a Slingo?

A completed row, column or diagonal on the 5x5 grid. More Slingos move you higher up the prize ladder.

What do Jokers do in Slingo?

A Joker lets you mark any number in its column; a Super Joker lets you mark any number on the grid.

Are Slingo extra spins worth buying?

Their price reflects your chance of moving up the ladder, so they are not free value. They can cost several times your stake, so decide on a limit before you play.

Can I use a casino bonus on Slingo?

It depends on the terms. Pub Casino counts Slingo fully towards wagering, while tombola Arcade does not allow bonus funds on Slingo.
