Casino promo codes: when you need one and what it unlocks

Most GB welcome offers apply by opt-in, but some still need a bonus code. Where codes go, current codes with their terms and why codes fail.

A casino promo code, also called a bonus code, is a short word you enter at registration or with a deposit to attach a specific offer to your account. At casinos licensed in Great Britain most welcome offers now apply automatically or with an opt-in button, so a code is needed only where the operator's terms say so. When a code is required, it is part of the offer's significant terms: deposit without it and the offer may not be credited.

Where a bonus code goes

Operators put the code field in one of three places, and the offer terms say which:

  • The registration form. A "promo code" or "bonus code" box on the sign-up page.
  • The cashier. A code field next to the deposit amount, used with the qualifying deposit.
  • The promotions page. An opt-in or code box you complete before depositing.

Order matters. Some offers are lost if the deposit is made before the code is entered or the offer activated, and the terms usually do not allow the code to be added afterwards.

Bonus codes on current terms sheets

Eight operators on this site currently publish a code for a casino or games offer: Midnite, LuckyMate, Lord Ping, Zingo Bingo, Betfred, BetGoodwin, William Hill Vegas and Costa Bingo. The highest-scoring of them, Midnite, asks for BETGETCASINO with a qualifying deposit and stake: 100 bonus spins on Big Bass Splash after a £20 deposit and £20 stake (code BETGETCASINO).

Significant terms

Code BETGETCASINO; min deposit £20; wager £20 on eligible games within 14 days; spins 10p, expire 7 days

Costa Bingo's games bonus needs a code with the first deposit, which is GAME50. The offer: 50% games bonus up to £100 on a £10+ first deposit.

Significant terms

New players; min deposit £10 with code GAME50; 10x games bonus wagering; instant games only; 5-day expiry; winnings capped at £100 plus bonus; withdrawal forfeits bonus

LuckyMate's casino code is MATE50; its sports welcome uses a separate code, because since 19 January 2026 one incentive cannot cover both products. The casino offer: 50 bonus spins on Big Bass Splash when you bet £10 on slots.

Significant terms

£10 min deposit; £10 in slot bets; 50 spins at £0.10 (£5 total); x1 wagering, £1 max bet contribution; £100 max cashout from winnings; 7-day expiry; selected payment methods only

Elsewhere, Betfred Casino requires its code before the deposit and accepts only debit cards for the offer, while Lord Ping and Zingo Bingo use codes to pick the spins option of a choice of welcome offers. Codes change with the offers they unlock. Each operator's page in the casino reviews shows the current terms sheet.

Offers that need no code

Many current welcome offers work without a code. Pub Casino's offer, for instance, is activated with a button before the first deposit rather than with a code: 50 cash spins on Octobeer Fortunes after depositing and wagering £10.

Significant terms

Deposit and wager £10; activate before depositing; spins £0.20 each, winnings paid as cash, no max cash out; Skrill deposits excluded; spins expire in 48 hours

If a site or advert gives you a code for an offer the operator's own terms describe as automatic, the code adds nothing. The operator's terms are the authority, not the code list.

No deposit bonus codes and codes for existing customers

Codes for no deposit offers follow the same rules as any other bonus: wagering capped at 10x and a maximum win set in the terms. They are uncommon, as explained in the guide to no deposit bonuses.

Codes for existing customers usually arrive by email or text. Since 1 May 2025 operators need your opt-in consent for each product and each channel before sending direct marketing, so you should only receive codes you agreed to receive, and you can withdraw that consent. People who self-exclude must be removed from marketing lists, including those run by affiliates.

What a promo code cannot change

A code is only a key to an offer; the rules around the offer are the same with or without it. The 10x cap on wagering bonus funds applies to promotions for new and existing customers alike. A code cannot unlock an offer that combines casino play with betting or bingo, cannot raise the slot stake limit of £5 per spin (£2 for players aged 18 to 24), and cannot exempt you from age and identity checks. If a code promises any of those, it is not from a GB-licensed operator.

A code also does not change any game's return to player. A bonus funded by a code is played on the same games, with the same odds, as your own money.

Why a promo code does not work

ProblemUsual cause
Code rejectedExpired, mistyped or for a different product
Offer not creditedCode entered after the deposit, or deposit below the minimum
Deposit does not qualifyThe payment method is excluded from the offer
Not eligibleThe offer is for new customers only, or one per person

If a code should have worked, the operator's customer support can check the account against the terms.

Promo code lists to treat with caution

Code lists online are often out of date, and some promote casinos that are not licensed for Great Britain. Before using any code, check that the casino holds an active Gambling Commission licence: the licence holder and account number are in its footer and can be looked up on the Commission's public register. A code is never a reason to use an unlicensed site.

18+ only. A code unlocks an offer; it does not change the odds of any game. See the responsible gambling page for limits and support.

Questions readers ask

What is a casino promo code?

A short word entered at registration or with a deposit that attaches a specific offer to your account. Where one is needed, the offer's terms say so.

Do I need a code to get a casino welcome bonus?

Not usually. Many GB welcome offers apply automatically or with an opt-in; a minority require a code at registration or deposit.

Can I add a bonus code after depositing?

Usually not. Most terms require the code or opt-in before the qualifying deposit.

Do the 10x wagering cap and other rules apply to promo code offers?

Yes. The GB rules on bonuses from 19 January 2026 apply to every incentive, whether it is unlocked by a code, an opt-in or automatically.

Why am I getting promo codes by email?

Operators may send marketing only with your consent for that product and channel, in force since 1 May 2025. You can withdraw that consent.
