What changed from the original Big Bass Bonanza
The 2020 Big Bass Bonanza uses a fixed reel layout. The Megaways version keeps the theme and the collecting fisherman but changes how wins form: reel heights vary from spin to spin, so the number of ways changes too, and winning symbols tumble away to make room for new ones. It is a separate game with its own maths.
Tumbles and the Megaways layout
Each spin draws a new reel shape, up to 46,656 ways. One database mentions a higher figure in its text, but the spec card follows the more widely quoted maximum. After a win, the paying symbols disappear and new ones fall in, so one spin can pay more than once. The Megaways slots page explains the format.
Fisherman retriggers and the fish money multiplier
Free spins start with up to 25 spins. During the round, fish symbols carry money values, and the fisherman wild collects them when both are on the reels. Every fourth fisherman collected retriggers the feature with more spins and raises the multiplier on fish money values, up to 10x. The round therefore rewards length: an early end leaves the multiplier low.
RTP, volatility and the 4,000x ceiling
The listed RTP is 96.70%, but operators may run other builds, so check the game's information screen. One database rates volatility as very high, another as high; either way, expect long gaps between strong free spins rounds. The 4,000x maximum is lower than some Megaways games, but it is still a rare outcome. In Great Britain the stake on online slots is capped at £5 per spin, or £2 if you are 18 to 24.
