Pirots 5 slot review: Captain Blackfeather and the Cursed Temple

ELK's fifth Pirots game adds a ghostly captain, catacomb battles and a rotating grid, with RTP builds that run from 87.0% to 96.0%.

The RTP range is the first thing to know about Pirots 5. ELK Studios supplies the game at anywhere from 87.0% to 96.0% depending on market and operator, so two casinos can run the same title with very different long-run returns. Beyond that, this sequel to Pirots 4 keeps the 6x6 CollectR grid, adds Captain Blackfeather, catacomb battles and a Secret Door that turns the board, and offers a top win of 10,000x the stake. Below, the Pirots 5 slot is taken apart one feature at a time.

RTP can be set lower by some casinos; the game's own help screen shows the figure that applies. 18+ only.

The CollectR grid, now with a pirate ghost

As in earlier games, bird characters move across the grid collecting matching symbols, the grid can expand, and symbols can transform. Wilds also appear. Captain Blackfeather is the new arrival: he turns between one and four birds into ghosts and transforms the symbols they hold into Blackfeather gems. The paytable sets out what the gems are worth.

Catacombs, Secret Door and the Cursed Temple

Catacomb corners sit on the grid. When a bird collects a symbol on one of them, a mummy battle starts and awards a feature symbol. The Secret Door rotates the whole grid, moving every symbol and bird to a new position. If the grid is cleared completely while the Secret Door feature is active, the Cursed Temple coin game begins. ELK puts the hit frequency at 25.1%, close to one spin in four, though a hit often returns less than the stake.

Bonus, Super Bonus and what carries over

Three bonus symbols trigger the Bonus, and a super bonus symbol triggers the Super Bonus. In both, the grid size, collection progress and gem upgrades persist between spins, so the round builds rather than resetting each time. That persistence is the main difference from the base game, where each spin starts from a fresh grid.

Pirots 5 RTP and volatility

At the top build the return is 96.0%, two points above the single 94.0% figure ELK gives for Pirots 4. At the bottom of the range it is 87.0%. ELK rates volatility at 7 out of 10, which the spec card shows as high. The game's information screen is the only place to see which build a casino runs, and it is worth checking before any session. The slot volatility guide explains how RTP and volatility work together.

X-iter prices and the UK stake limits

X-iter, ELK's bonus buy menu, offers five modes from Bonus Hunt at 3x the bet to Super Bonus at 250x, a lower top price than the 500x of the previous game. The product sheet gives bets from €0.20 to €100 or the equivalent in other currencies. In Great Britain, online slot stakes have been capped at £5 per game cycle for adults since 9 April 2025 and at £2 for players aged 18 to 24 since 21 May 2025. Whether X-iter is available in a GB lobby depends on the casino's build. The slot stake limits guide has the detail.

Pirots 5 demo and where to find the game

Pirots 5 demo play is offered on ELK's own website and by licensed casinos with a demo mode; none of it runs here. GB operators must check age and identity before any free play opens. Among the operators carded on this site, Double Bubble Bingo names ELK Studios among its providers and is shown beside this review. Earlier entries in the series include Pirots 3. Under rules in force since 19 January 2026, wagering on bonus funds tops out at 10x the bonus amount. The game is for adults aged 18 and over; the responsible gambling page explains limits and where to find support.
