Dead or Alive 2 slot review: three free spins modes and RTP

NetEnt's 2019 Wild West sequel with nine lines and 12 free spins played in a mode of your choice with sticky wilds.

Dead or Alive 2 is NetEnt's 2019 sequel to its 2009 Wild West slot and one of the more volatile games in the NetEnt catalogue. The Dead or Alive 2 slot has five reels, three rows and nine lines, a published RTP of 96.80% and high volatility. Its free spins let you choose between three modes built around sticky wilds. NetEnt, now part of Evolution, released it on 23 April 2019.

Features

  • Scatter wins up to 2,500x the bet for 5 scatters
  • 12 free spins with a choice of Old Saloon, High Noon Saloon or Train Heist modes
  • Sticky wilds in free spins
  • Feature buy - Bonus buy is not available to UK players

RTP can be set lower by some casinos; the game's own help screen shows the figure that applies. 18+ only.

Nine lines and scatter pays

With only nine lines, base-game wins are fairly sparse. Scatters pay anywhere on the reels, up to 2,500x the bet for five, and they also open the free spins round.

Old Saloon, High Noon Saloon or Train Heist

Free spins start at 12, and you pick one of three modes before they begin: Old Saloon, High Noon Saloon or Train Heist. All three use sticky wilds that stay in place for the rest of the round; they differ in how wilds and multipliers behave. NetEnt's description places the game's largest potential wins in Train Heist.

Why no maximum win is quoted

NetEnt's own page gives two different figures for the top payout: a short stat line of 1,600x the bet and a description that mentions far larger wins in Train Heist. With the provider's figures in conflict, this page does not state a maximum; the paytable at your casino is the reference.

Feature buy, stakes and bonus contribution

A Feature Buy edition exists, but the bonus buy is not available to UK players. Online slots at GB-licensed casinos are capped at £5 per spin, or £2 for players aged 18 to 24. Check bonus terms before playing the game with bonus funds: Pub Casino's terms, for example, list Dead or Alive 2 among the games that do not count towards wagering. GB rules cap wagering on bonus funds at 10x since 19 January 2026, but stakes on an excluded game do not reduce it at all. The wagering requirements guide explains game contribution.

Where the game is listed

There is no demo on this site; NetEnt shows the game on its own site and licensed casinos may offer demo mode after age verification. Several licensed casinos name NetEnt among their providers, and they appear next to this review. The original Dead or Alive and Dead or Alive Saloon are separate games. For another NetEnt classic see Gonzo's Quest.
