Play'n GO slots: Book of Dead, game series and UK casinos

Play'n GO's GB licence, Book of Dead and its other game series, how each plays and which UK casinos list the studio.

Play'n GO slots are made by a Swedish studio based in Växjö whose history goes back to 1997, when it built its first gaming solution as a subcontractor. In Great Britain its games are supplied by Play'n GO Malta Limited, Gambling Commission account 55949. The studio is best known for Book of Dead and the wider Rich Wilde series, along with character-led families such as Reactoonz and Rise of Olympus. This page covers its licence, its game series, the titles reviewed here and the GB casinos that list it.

Play'n GO's licence and background

The Gambling Commission (UKGC) register lists Play'n GO Malta Limited under account 55949 with remote licence 055949-R-332212-005, covering Gambling Software and Game Host (Casino) since 29 January 2020. The same account also holds Gaming Machine Technical Software activities, remote since 2024 and non-remote since 2022, which reflects the studio's move into content for land-based machines. Play'n GO's own site confirms the account number and gives the licensee's registered address in Valletta, Malta, while its main headquarters is in Växjö, Sweden.

Those licences cover supplying and hosting games. Your account, deposits and any bonus sit with the casino, which needs its own remote casino licence; our guide on checking a casino's licence shows how to confirm it on the register.

Book of Dead and the Rich Wilde series

Play'n GO calls Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead one of the most played slots in the history of online gaming, and it is still the game most people mean when they search for Play'n GO. Book of Dead is a five-reel, ten-line game rated high volatility, in which free spins pick a random symbol that expands to fill whole reels. That single feature carries most of the game's return, so long quiet stretches are normal.

The explorer character runs through the Wilde series. Rich Wilde and the Tome of Madness moves him to a cascading cluster grid with a charge meter that unlocks features, which plays very differently from the original despite the shared name. Legacy of Dead is not a Rich Wilde game but uses the same Egyptian expanding-symbol idea, with tomb scatters that also act as wilds.

Play'n GO slots list by series

The studio organises its catalogue into named series. Its own site lists Blitzways, grid slots, 100 games, the Joker series, Legion Gold, music slots, Reactoonz, Rise of Olympus, Sweet Alchemy, table games and the Wilde series, plus separate land-based and social casino lines. The ones with review pages on this site:

SeriesGame reviewed hereHow it plays
Wilde seriesBook of DeadClassic reels, expanding symbol in free spins, high volatility
ReactoonzReactoonz7x7 cluster-pays grid with cascades and a charge meter, high volatility
Rise of OlympusRise of OlympusGrid game with a multiplier that builds during each spin and god-themed features
Joker seriesFire JokerThree-reel game with a respin and a wheel of multipliers, medium volatility

Newer releases extend the same families: Rise of Olympus 100 and Rise of Olympus Origins, Reactoonz Blitzways, and Wrappin' Gold. The spec card on each review page gives the GB RTP and maximum win, which can differ from figures quoted for other markets.

Best Play'n GO slots for different kinds of play

If you want something close to a traditional fruit machine, Fire Joker is the simplest of the group: three reels, a joker wild and a medium volatility rating. Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead suit players who accept long gaps for the chance of a large free spins round. Reactoonz and the Tome of Madness are for those who like busy grids where one spin can chain several wins and charge up a feature meter. Rise of Olympus sits between these, with features triggered by the gods on the grid. Our guide to slot volatility explains how the rating affects a session.

Play'n GO casinos in the UK

Among the operators reviewed on this site, Magical Vegas, Bella Casino, 666 Casino, Amazon Slots, Pub Casino and LuckyMate all name Play'n GO in their published provider lists. That makes it one of the studios you are most likely to find at a GB casino, but no casino carries the whole catalogue, so search the lobby for the game you want before you deposit. If you play on a phone, our guide to mobile casinos covers apps and mobile sites.

When a casino promotion uses a Play'n GO game, the terms are the casino's. Wagering on bonus funds is capped at 10x under GB rules from 19 January 2026, but eligible games, spin values, expiry dates and caps on winnings still vary, so read the significant terms next to the offer.

Play'n GO roulette and blackjack

Table games are one of Play'n GO's listed series, so some casinos carry its RNG roulette and blackjack alongside the slots. These are software games, not live dealer tables. They are not subject to the £5 slot stake limit, but since 17 January 2025 every online casino game in Great Britain must run at least 5 seconds per game cycle, without autoplay, and show your net spend and time played.

Play'n GO demos and spin rules in Great Britain

Play'n GO slots follow the same British rules as every other studio's. The maximum stake is £5 per spin, or £2 if you are 18-24; a spin takes at least 2.5 seconds; turbo and autoplay are not offered. Play'n GO publishes demo versions of its games, and GB-licensed casinos must verify your age before you can play their demo mode. This site does not host playable demos.
