Legacy of Dead slot review: tomb scatters, expanding symbols and RTP
Play'n GO's 2020 Egyptian slot in which tomb symbols are both wild and scatter, and free spins pick a symbol that expands.
Legacy of Dead is Play'n GO's 2020 follow-up to Book of Dead: the same Egyptian setting and the same expanding-symbol free spins, with different numbers underneath. The Legacy of Dead slot was released on 2 January 2020 and has five reels, three rows, ten lines, a standard RTP of 96.58% and a top win of 5,000x the stake. Most databases rate it high volatility; one calls it very high.

Tomb symbols: scatter and wild in one
The tomb symbol does two jobs. It substitutes for other symbols to complete line wins, and enough of them anywhere on the reels trigger free spins. Before the round, one symbol is picked at random as the special expanding symbol. When it lands in enough positions to pay during free spins, it grows to fill its reels and pays across all ten lines. The round can retrigger.
How Legacy of Dead differs from Book of Dead
Anyone who knows Book of Dead will recognise the structure: both are ten-line, high-volatility games that depend on which symbol is chosen and how often it lands. Legacy of Dead has a slightly higher standard RTP on paper, but both come in several builds, so the comparison only holds if your casino runs the standard version of each. Play'n GO states the top prize in coins (250,000), which is why the 5,000x stake figure is the clearer way to read it.
Builds, stakes and what to check first
Play'n GO supplies lower RTP builds to operators as well as the 96.58% version. The game looks identical either way, so open the paytable or game rules before staking. Stakes on online slots at GB-licensed sites are limited to £5 a spin for adults aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24.
Legacy of Dead free spins and no deposit searches
Searches for Legacy of Dead free spins with no deposit, or for a free version of the game, mean two different things. The game's own free spins come from tomb symbols. Casino bonus spins on it are a promotion with terms: spin value, expiry, maximum winnings and wagering, which GB rules cap at 10x on bonus funds from 19 January 2026. None of the welcome offers listed on this site names this game at present. The no deposit free spins page explains what those offers usually include.
Where Legacy of Dead is listed
There is no demo on this site: Play'n GO shows the game on its own site, and licensed casinos may open a demo mode after age verification. 666 Casino lists Legacy of Dead in its lobby, and several other licensed casinos name Play'n GO among their providers; they are shown alongside this review.

No. It is a separate Play'n GO game with the same expanding-symbol idea but its own RTP, symbols and tomb scatter that also acts as a wild.
What does the tomb symbol do in Legacy of Dead?
It is both the wild and the scatter: it completes line wins and, in enough numbers, triggers free spins.
What is the RTP of Legacy of Dead?
The standard build is 96.58%. Lower builds exist, so check the in-game information.
Can I try Legacy of Dead for free?
Not on this site. Play'n GO's own site shows the game, and licensed casinos may offer demo mode after verifying your age.
