NetEnt released the Jumanji slot in June 2018, based on the film licence, and its most visible quirk is the reel shape: five reels holding 3, 4, 5, 4 and 3 symbols, with 36 paylines across them. Four random features in the base game
Any spin can trigger one of four modifiers, each with a different job:
- Sticky Vines: winning symbols and any wilds that were on the reels at the start hold in place while the other reels respin.
- Monsoon Wilds: one or two random reels turn fully wild.
- Monkey Mayhem: the symbols reshuffle so that the spin always produces at least one win.
- Wild Stampede: rhinos run across the reels and leave between 4 and 9 wilds behind.
The win that Monkey Mayhem forces can be smaller than the stake, so it is not the same as a profit. The features smooth out the base game rather than change the long-run return.
The Jumanji board game bonus
When the bonus triggers, the reels give way to a board. Dice rolls move a token around it, and the square it stops on decides what you get: entry into one of four free spins modes, a coin win of 2x to 10x, or extra rolls. Because the result depends on where the dice happen to land, two bonus rounds can look completely different, and the paytable sets out the exact rules for each square.
