Pragmatic slots are the games made by Pragmatic Play, a studio founded in 2015 whose British licence is held by Pragmatic Play (Gibraltar) Limited, Gambling Commission account 56015. It is best known for high-volume slot franchises - the Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, Sugar Rush and Big Bass series - and its games appear in the lobbies of most GB-licensed casinos. Pragmatic Play on the Gambling Commission register
The Gambling Commission (UKGC) register lists Pragmatic Play (Gibraltar) Limited under account 56015 with one remote licence, 056015-R-332216-006. Its activities are Gambling Software, Game Host (Casino) and Game Host (Bingo), all active since 30 January 2020, plus Betting Host for virtual events from the same date and for real events since 2023. In plain terms, the company may supply games to British casinos and run them on its own servers for slots, bingo and betting products. It does not hold a licence to take bets from you directly; your contract is always with the casino.
The register also shows the trading name "pragmatic play" as inactive against two other businesses, Arrise Solutions (Malta) Limited (account 46683) and Maple Media Holdings Limited (account 100974). Both now carry the trading name "arrise live" as active. If you search the register and see those entries, the active Pragmatic Play licence is the one under account 56015. The public sources do not confirm the studio's headquarters or parent company, so they are left out here.
Four franchises that make up most of the catalogue
Pragmatic Play releases a large number of games, but a handful of series account for most of what British players search for. Several of them now have "1000" editions alongside the originals.
- Olympus. Gates of Olympus won the Slot of the Year 2022 title at the CasinoBeats Game Developer Awards, and Gates of Olympus 1000 sat at the top of an industry ranking of slots in the first two quarters of 2025.
- Sweet Bonanza. Sweet Bonanza took the Slot Legacy title at the same awards; Sweet Bonanza 1000 sat second in that 2025 ranking.
- Sugar Rush. Sugar Rush is a cluster-pays game; Sugar Rush 1000 held third place in the same ranking.
- Big Bass. The fishing series includes Big Bass Bonanza, Big Bass Splash, Big Bass Bonanza Megaways and Big Bass Rock and Roll, which entered that ranking at number seven.

Best Pragmatic Play slots by the way they play
"Best" depends on what you want from a session, so it helps to sort the games by volatility rather than by popularity. The spec cards on each review page give the RTP, maximum win and grid for the GB version.

Most of these are rated high volatility, which means long gaps between meaningful wins and most of the return concentrated in the bonus round. On a budget, that is worth knowing before you choose a stake. Our guide to slot volatility explains the trade-off.
Features that differ in the British versions
Pragmatic Play's international game pages often show an ante bet and a bonus buy option. For several of its games the GB specification records that bonus buy is not available to UK players, so do not assume a feature from an overseas video exists in the version you can play. Autoplay and turbo spins are banned at GB casinos, every spin takes at least 2.5 seconds, and the maximum stake on any online slot is £5, or £2 if you are 18-24.
Pragmatic Play casinos in Great Britain

Offers like this are set by the casino, not by Pragmatic Play. Under GB rules from 19 January 2026, wagering on bonus funds cannot exceed 10x, but the eligible game, spin value, expiry and any cap on winnings still vary, so read them before you opt in. Live tables and bingo from the same studio
Pragmatic Play is not only a slot studio. Its GB licence covers game hosting for bingo as well as casino, and its live casino studio appears in operator lobbies as Pragmatic Play Live; LuckyMate, for instance, lists Pragmatic Play Live tables and game shows, and Virgin Bet names Pragmatic Live among its live suppliers. Searches for "Pragmatic Play blackjack" or "Pragmatic Play bingo sites" usually refer to these products. Which tables or rooms a casino carries is shown in its own lobby rather than on the provider's site.
Pragmatic free play: where the demos are
Pragmatic Play publishes demo versions of its games, and many GB casinos let you open a slot in demo mode. Since 7 May 2019 GB-licensed sites must verify your age before you can play demo games as well as real-money ones, so expect to log in to a verified account first. This site does not host playable demos. A demo uses play credits, so it shows how a game looks and how often features land, but it says nothing about your own results.
